The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they differ? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
