The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and his morning brightness 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 By the Night as it conceals it; 4 By the heaven and Him Who builded it, 5 And by the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 And inspired it with the wickedness thereof and the piety thereof, 8 He who nourishes it will surely be successful, 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing, 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they gave him the lie, and cruelly slaughtered her - whereupon their Sustainer visited them with utter destruction for this their sin, destroying them all alike: 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
