A (goodly) number from those of old, 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please: 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 and they used to say, "What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up again? 47 and perhaps, too, our forebears of old?" 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day. 50 Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, 51 Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 "So you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!" 55 This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment. 56 It is He who created you, then why do you not affirm the truth? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 Is it you who create it - or are We the source of its creation? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 from changing the nature of your existence and bringing you into being [anew] in a manner [as yet] unknown to you. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 So what is your opinion regarding what you sow? 63 Is it you who cause them to grow or do We? 64 [For,] were it Our will, We could indeed turn it into chaff, and you would be left to wonder [and to lament,] 65 Lo! we are laden with debt! 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 Behold! the water which ye drink: 68 Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 So glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. 74
