Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Reality! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
