He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
