۞ When the son of Mary is mentioned as an example, your people turn away from it 57 and say: "Which is better - our deities or he?" [But] it is only in the spirit of dispute that they put this comparison before thee: yea, they are contentious folk! 58 He was no more than a servant: We granted Our favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel. 59 And had We willed We could have appointed angels born of you in the earth to succeed each other. 60 It is knowledge of the Hour; doubt not concerning it, and follow me.
