The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the Great News 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
