The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 and believes in the finest, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
Almighty Allah's Truth.
