۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 By Allah, I shall certainly carry out my plan against your gods after you are gone." 57 So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it. 58 (When the people came to the temple and saw the broken idols) they asked each other, "Who has done this to our gods? He certainly is an unjust person". 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 [The others] said: "Then bring him before the peoples eyes, so that they might bear witness [against him]!" 61 They said: art thou the one who hath wrought this unto our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 So they returned one to another saying, 'Surely, it is you who are the harmdoers' 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense? 67 They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We said: "O fire, become coolness and safety for Abraham." 69 and whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We caused them to suffer the greatest loss: 70 And We delivered him and Lut to the land wherein We had placed Our blessings for the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 whereas him We admitted unto Our grace: for, behold, he was among the righteous. 75
