Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon are joined, 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 Never! There is no refuge! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 even though they make excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity. 25 Some people, certainly, do not believe in it, but when a person's soul reaches up to his throat 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
