The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he shall call for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
