'Aad denied the messengers 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 140
