The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Allah, the Most Gracious 1 has taught the Koran. 2 has created man, 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 Therefore, maintain just measure and do not transgress against the Balance. 9 It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures: 10 Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters, 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He hath loosed the two seas. They meet. 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
