The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the Great News 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a fitting requital, 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
