The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
