The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 by the House inhabited 4 And the roof exalted, 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
