The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
