The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
