A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Suad. 1 This is a Book sent down toward thee, so let there be no straitness in thy breast therefor, that thou mayest warn thereby! and this is an admonition unto the believers. 2 [Say (O Muhammad SAW) to these idolaters (pagan Arabs) of your folk:] Follow what has been sent down unto you from your Lord (the Quran and Prophet Muhammad's Sunnah), and follow not any Auliya' (protectors and helpers, etc. who order you to associate partners in worship with Allah), besides Him (Allah). Little do you remember! 3 How many towns have We destroyed (for their sins)? Our punishment took them on a sudden by night or while they slept for their afternoon rest. 4 Yet their cry, when Our punishment came to them, was nothing but that they said: Surely we were unjust. 5 So We shall call to account those to whom Messengers were sent, and We shall call to account the Messengers (to see how dutifully they conveyed the Message, and how people responded to it). 6 and thereupon We shall most certainly reveal unto them Our knowledge [of their doings]: for never have We been absent [from them]. 7 Truth alone will be of weight that Day. Those whose scales are heavy shall be successful, 8 And as for those whose scale is light: those are they who lose their souls because they used to wrong Our revelations. 9 We established you in the earth and made for you a livelihood but little is it that you give thanks. 10
