The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 The closing night, 17 And the breath of morning 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
