He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him you attend; 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
