Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions lined up 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
