The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 And rejects goodness, 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
