The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
