Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ta Sin Mim 1 These are verses of the Manifest Book. 2 We narrate unto thee (somewhat) of the story of Moses and Pharaoh with truth, for folk who believe. 3 The Pharaoh dominated the land and divided its inhabitants into different groups, suppressing one group by killing their sons and keeping their women alive. He was certainly an evil-doer. 4 But We have decided to grant a favor to the suppressed ones by appointing them leaders and heirs of the land, 5 and to establish them in the land, and to show Pharaoh and Ha man, and their hosts, what they were dreading from them. 6 And We inspired the mother of Moosa that, “Suckle him; then when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear nor grieve; We shall indeed return him back to you and make him one of the Noble Messengers.” 7 And the family of Pharaoh took him up, that he might become for them an enemy and a sorrow, Lo! Pharaoh and Haman and their hosts were ever sinning. 8 and Pharaoh's wife said, "He will be a joy to the eye for me and you! Do not slay him: he may well be of use to us, or we may adopt him as a son." They did not realize what they were doing. 9 And the heart of Musa's mother was free (from anxiety) she would have almost disclosed it had We not strengthened her heart so that she might be of the believers. 10 And she said unto his sister: Trace him. So she observed him from afar, and they perceived not. 11 ۞ And We had prevented from him [all] wet nurses before, so she said, "Shall I direct you to a household that will be responsible for him for you while they are to him [for his upbringing] sincere?" 12 So We restored him to his mother that she might be content and not grieve and that she would know that the promise of Allah is true. But most of the people do not know. 13
