The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a few from later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And extended shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
