And [every time] the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to the announcement of a life to come - [simply] because We had granted them ease and plenty in [their] worldly life, and they had become corrupted by it [every time] they would say: "This [man] is nothing hut a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat, and drinking of what you drink: 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, far-fetched indeed is what you are promised! 36 “There is nothing except our life of this world, we die and we live, and we are not to be raised.” 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 The Messenger said: "My Lord! Come to my help at their accusing me of lying." 39 He replied: 'Before long, by the morning, they shall be remorseful' 40 So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk! 41 Thereafter, after them, We produced other generations; 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 Towards Firaun and his court members – in response they were haughty, and they were in dominance. 46 And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us? 47 So they denied them – therefore became of those who were destroyed. 48 And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Musa the Book, that haply they may be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
