The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 and hastily turned away, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
