He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him you give attention. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble, pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
