And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
