The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 And the swollen sea, 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 none can avert that. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
