The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a grievous day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
