Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
