(Muhammad), consider when Abraham prayed, "Lord, make this (Mecca) a peaceful territory and save me and my offspring from worshipping idols. 35 My Lord, indeed they have led astray many among the people. So whoever follows me - then he is of me; and whoever disobeys me - indeed, You are [yet] Forgiving and Merciful. 36 "Our Lord! I have made some of my offspring settle in a barren valley near Your Sacred House! Our Lord! I did so that they may establish Prayer. So make the hearts of people affectionately inclined to them, and provide them with fruits for their sustenance that they may give thanks. 37 Our Lord! Surely You know all that we conceal and all that we reveal, and nothing in the earth or in the heaven is hidden from Allah. 38 Praise be to God, who has given me, though I am old, Ishmael and Isaac; surely my Lord hears the petition. 39 My Lord, make me a performer of the prayer, and of my seed. Our Lord, and receive my petition. 40 Forgive me, our Lord, and forgive my parents and all the believers on the Day of Reckoning' 41
