When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their drunkenness. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
