۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these images, to which you are devoted?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said: 'Truly, you and your fathers are in clear error' 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. It was He who created them and I testify to this fact". 56 Abraham said to himself, "By God! I will devise a plan against their idols when they are away." 57 Then he broke them all into pieces, sparing only the supreme one among them that they may possibly return to him. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 Said some [of them]: "We heard a youth speak of these [gods with scorn]: he is called Abraham." 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 They said: Have you done this to our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 "No," he said. "It was done by that chief of theirs. Ask him in case they can speak." 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 Then they turned to themselves (their first thought and said): "Indeed you [Ibrahim (Abraham)] know well that these (idols) speak not!" 65 He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you? 66 Shame on you and on that you worship other than Allah! Have you no understanding' 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 We said, “O fire, become cool and peaceful upon Ibrahim.” 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lot (and brought them) to the land which We have blessed for (all) peoples. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. 72 and appointed them to be leaders guiding by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, and to perform the prayer, and to pay the alms, and Us they served. 73 To Lot, We gave judgment and knowledge and saved him from the village that had been committing corrupt deeds; for they were an evil nation and were debauched. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous. 75
