A crowd of earlier generations 39 and a good many of later times. 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 And in the shadow of a burning smoke. 43 neither cool nor refreshing. 44 They had been affluent before, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 and they used to say, "What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up again? 47 And also our forefathers? 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 "And drink boiling water on top of it, 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom. 56 It is We Who created you, so why do you not accept the truth? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun, 60 from changing the nature of your existence and bringing you into being [anew] in a manner [as yet] unknown to you. 61 And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder? 62 Just ponder over what you sow: 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, 65 “We have been penalised; 66 "Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)" 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
