The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
God the Almighty always says the truth.
