Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
