The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
