The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour of Doom is drawing near and the moon is rent asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
