The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
