The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
