Surely the people of al-Hijr also rejected the Messengers, calling them liars. 80 for We did vouchsafe them Our messages, but they obstinately turned their backs upon them 81 And they used to hew out dwellings from the hills, (wherein they dwelt) secure. 82 But As-Saihah (torment - awful cry etc.) overtook them in the early morning (of the fourth day of their promised punishment days). 83 and whatever they had been earning proved of no avail. 84 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends. And the Hour is surely coming (when this will be manifest). So overlook (any human faults) with gracious forgiveness. 85 Your Lord is the Creator, the Knower. 86 And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an. 87 Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers. 88 And say thou: verily I! I am a plain warner. 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 Those who have made the scripture bits. 91 Therefore, by your Lord, We shall question every one of them. 92 concerning that they were doing. 93 So proclaim that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the idolaters. 94 Surely We suffice to deal with those who scoff at you, 95 even against those who set up with God another god. Certainly they will soon know! 96 We are well aware that you are disheartened by what they say. 97 but extol thou thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise Him, and be of those who prostrate themselves [before Him] in adoration, 98 and worship thy Sustainer till death comes to thee. 99
