And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
