Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)

۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 in a lofty Garden 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
