The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
