And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
