We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 And gave signs to them in which there was a clear trial. 33 Indeed, these [disbelievers] are saying, 34 'There is nothing but our first death; we shall not be revived. 35 So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful. 36 Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is in-between the twain sporting. 38 We did not create them except with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is the appointed time for them all - 40 A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
