And the Thamud belied the warnings. 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one. 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called their companion who took a sword and hamstrung her. 29 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warnings. 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 Indeed, We have made the Quran easy to learn lessons from. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 32 Lot's people also gave the lie to the warnings, 33 [and so,] behold, We let loose upon them a deadly tempest; and only Lot 's kinsfolk did We save at the break of dawn, 34 As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 They lusted after his guests, so We put out their eyes (and said): "Taste My punishment and My commination." 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 So taste My chastisement and My warning. 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40
